Second Day in France

At the end of first day we were closely connected with each other, and then we were able to take a journey together. As usual at half past eight in front of school we met for going to Cremieu in company with French friends.

Cremieu has a long and important medieval history. First historical references to Cremieu date back to the 12th century. Cremieu is located to the east of Lyon, in the Rhone-Alps region of eastern France. It is noticed that each century has left its mark on the town of Cremieu that we visited. As we explored Cremieu old town we saw lots of attractive medieval houses, many with small interesting features to enjoy, such as attractively carved doors and ancient shutters. There are some houses that deserve particular attention, such as the Maison about which is told an interesting legend by Roman. We also saw the very substantial covered market hall, built in stone and wood and with impressive carpentry work. We climbed up the castle perched on top of a hill. The view overlooking the town was breathtaking. The town is said to fill up with people for a festive event dedicated to middle ages with shows, dances, street entertainment.

After having lunch at school we set out on a journey. The next destination was Chambery. Chambery is a beautiful town  and the medieval section of the town is quite well preserved. The old city is very nice. There are large and small streets. We were there walking in the beautiful streets of Chambery. We found Chambery to be a lovely town and enjoyed our visit to this very unusual fountain set just near the old part of town. An amazing and unexpected fountain with elephants is interesting and the elephants are beautifully carved. We were expecting water to be gushing out of their trunks. If you come to Chambery be sure to check out the Elephant Fountain -one of the town landmarks- Chateau de Chambery, Place du Palais de Justice.
