Here we are

Dear friends,

Here we are the family of Kärla Basic School with all its teachers and students. With the following pictures we would like to introduce you our colleagues and pupils who were all involved with this Comenius project and helped us with different tasks given by Turkey team.

Anne Pildre, grade 4

Riina Eller, grade 2

Gerta Uus, grade 3

Margit Lindau, grade 1

Children from the grades 1 to 4 were given homework to introduce one of their favourite sport games that they play together with their friends and family. In a co-operation with the parents children also had to write down one receipt of a healthy food dish that they really are enjoying and eating at home.

Maret Arge, who is our teacher of physical and health education, has done a lot for us. In her health education classes she has spoken about healthy life-style and eating habits; it was her who had given the homework for students to search for different receipts of healthy dishes. In her physical education classes Maret has carried out all these sport-games that students had come up with – and all this was done in order to find the most interesting game that would be introduced by us in Turkey to other teams.

Together with students we picked out the most attractive and tasteful receipts among all receipts and these are the ones we are going to present in our project. Some of the chosen dishes were experimented in the industrial arts class together with the teacher Maret Rei.

Anne Tõru, grade 6

Katrin Mesila, grade 8

The headmaster of our school, Jaan Lember, introduced the students the background of Turkish history and policies. He spoke about the most famous people of the country who had brought the honour and fame to the country. One of the tasks at his class for students was to prepare info- and fact sheets about Turkey as a country.

Jaanika Kask, our history class teacher, taught students Turkish culture and religion so that they would have better overview of similarity and difference between Estonia and Turkey.

And last but not least, our youth recreation leader Külli Luup and our librarian Laidi Lindau.

It was Külli’s idea to create and put a map on the bulletin board of the school marking down all these countries that are participating the project and that we meet in Turkey – it’s like a friendship map.

Thanks to Laidi we have all these photos presented here; she also helped us with the book of the receipts, which will be soon uploaded to our school’s website as well, in Estonian only, though.

Thank you, our dearest colleagues, for your help and support! We appreciate it a lot!

And we are really glad that we have opportunity to introduce our most active persons to our national friends.

All the best,

Estonian team
