Trip to Lyon

On Thursday all Comenius groups visited one of the most beautiful and biggest cities in France- Lyon. There are about 484344 inhabitants in this city.

The city is known for its historical and architectural landmarks. Lyon was historically known as an important area for the production and weaving of silk and in modern times has developed a reputation as the capital of gastronomy in France.

Economically, Lyon is a major centre for banking as well as for chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries.

We started our trip at 8:30 in front of the school and then we went to Lyon by coach. While driving there was bustling and cheerful atmosphere. We began sightseeing on the Place Bellecour. It’s a huge square with a big wheel on it.

We went pass the ancient Romain Theatre and we visited Notre Dame- de Fourviere basilica. It made a great impression on everybody by its splendor and richness. After visiting basilica we looked at lovely panorama of whole Lyon. Then we went into St. John Cathedral. We were walking through many interesting streets and we saw a lot of landmarks. Apart from visiting the city we also had the opportunity to taste the delicious specialties of the local cafes. In our free time we were getting to know the city, watching different shows and buying souvenirs. After this part of sightseeing we were divided into groups and with maps we had to continue going round the city. At the end of our trip we met ourselves in the same place as at the beginning- the Place Bellecour.

While we were coming back to Morestel every team was talking in its own language full of positive emotions. Everyone was very happy and smiled. Only then we felt that this is really an international event.
