Comenius Week in Kärla Basic School - Thursday, 14 May

04/06/2015 13:27

We started that day about 8.30 in school. Later we left school and went to the bus. We had the trip to southern part of  Saaremaa island- Sorve Peninsula. At the beginning we saw monuments of Russian soldiers, and beautiful part of coast. We took some photos, and went to a harbor. We could see nice ships and amazing beach near the harbor. This place was fantastic, but the next thing was in my opinion the best. We were  near the lighthouse-the biggest on the island, and we were walking on the peninsula. After that we drove to he museum of the First and Second World War, where we could see and touch a lot of things which was connected with war, army and people who lived in that times. Then we had  lunch in a restaurant and  we came back to  our homes in  Kärla.

After a trip we had about two hours long break to prepare for a festive. After that we came back  to school. At first there was a speech of headmaster. He told us about tradition of this festive and what are we going to watch. After that choir of the youngest students sang two songs. There were also performances of dancing groups. For me, the best was this one, in which children were dancing with flags of Comenius Project countries. We could also see students who were playing the violin, contrabass and many other instruments. One of French teachers joined to this festive by playing the  piano. The funniest point was imitation of famous rappers, made by four students. Most songs sang Delis Pärnoja. One of them is “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Another time she sang with  headmaster -Jaan. After performances we had about half an hour long break to watch exhibitions of students’ manual works. There were many wooden things made by boys and many woolen things, made by girls. We could also watch paintings made by them. Then we had an opportunity to try traditional Estonian food. Disco started at seven o’clock. Everybody were having fun, nobody was sitting or standing in calm. Spirit of dance joined to everyone. We were so shocked when we realized that it’s already nine and we had to stop the party. We didn’t agree, so we went to Oskar’s house to continue that. In the evening we concluded that it was  a really exciting day.
